Work: Light installation
Location: Forteiland Pampus, IJMEER
Date: 06/2023

Details:  In this installation, a tidal flat has been recreated from fishing wire and bio-resin made from marine clay and gelatin. The projection on this tidal flat illustrates its morphodynamic development. Data from Rijkswaterstaat was used for this projection. A day of 24 hours is visualized in a time course of 10 minutes. Various values such as water height, current and wave height are incorporated in these visuals. This installation draws attention to systems thinking in the future plans for flood risk management in the Netherlands.

In collaboration with: Esther van Leeuwen

Intertidal areas are very important for the protection of the Dutch coast. In addition, they preserve an enormous biodiversity. Due to the rising sea level and the consequences of the construction of dams, more and more of these sand and mud flats are in danger of disappearing forever. Inter tidal is a visualization of the morphodynamic development of the Wadden Sea. This development is of great importance for the growth and decline of an intertidal area.
